Why Gives Men Money?

Like all activism, it's not about equality, but power. Once women overtook men in colleges, school, and scholarships, there's been no push to make it equal.

I got out of the rat race and started my own company a few years ago because many companies in tech are only hiring women and pushing men out.

One of my favorite photo from a few years ago was from a tech startup with the caption 'diversity'. It was a tech team of all women.

the world changes faster than perceptions change. say you invest heavily in getting 1 group represented more because the perception is they are under represented, at some point they will be represented enough but that perception takes time to settle in, at which point you might find them already over represented.

things are never in balance, but always being balanced. there is no point in which all will be equal, but potentially the sway of the pendulum can get less extreme, so there is 'better balance'.

    (very generally put)

(2023) You've messed up the title: Who Gives Men Money? the byline is a bit less clickbait, though: A look into scholarships

It's been a few decades since I've been around academia, but at least back then the secret (if you needed scholarships) seemed to be looking for well-run Honors programs at universities which were otherwise a couple academic notches below your own level. That would also get you a lot more individual attention from professors who cared about students and teaching.

And clearly personalized letters of recommendation from prof's who actually knew you might count far more than the "John was an average student in my huge class" letters you could get at some university where you just squeaked in the door.

Is anyone familiar, to know if this game plan still works?
