Absolutely. Through most of my corporate career most developers, at companies that do not sell software as a product, are completely reliant on open source. Many of these developers could not write an application of their own to save their jobs.

Its time these open source authors saw the necessary funding to afford testing equipment and a funded staff of testers. If that is too big a ask then let's see what happens when all this OSS is no longer available and these overpaid corporate developers are assigned to write software of their own: Apocalypse.

fund OSS? very tough thing because of how software ecosystem has changed because of AI. It's said but we can't do anything but suffer since AI is causing future vulnerabilities which will cause deadlocks later.
