I was making fun of yet another AI bot name that a company introduced, and thought "it would be fun to look at all of the AI names and see what everyone calls them."
So that's what I did. I had a swarm of Claude agents do 4,654 searches and found some hilarious names and some interesting trends.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, most AIs that have a human name have a feminine name. What's more interesting is how that shifts on an industry basis. Not here to opine on what this means - I can see many different ways to interpret this :)
Also it's interesting that, thank goodness, at least the trend of naming your own bot seems to be waning - there are notably fewer launches in 2026 relative to 2025.
Some of my favorite AI names:
Mattie Moo - Wisconsin Department of Workforce Developer
Sir Lancelbot - Vegas Golden Knights customer service
Will-E - Trust & Will bot for answer questions about estate planning
Bubba - AI bot for truckers to find jobs and negotiate rates
Anyway, go nuts, hope you have as much fun as I did!
