I ended up developing an unbreakable layout engine micro-optimized for 11 breakpoints that adapts to an extreme range of content block configurations and content formats (e.g., text length, image ratio, block size, etc.).
The link is a short piece I wrote about the design rationale and under-the-hood mechanics. No better place to get an expert opinion than here, so please, by all means, rip it apart.
TL;DR — pretty much any project I worked on took forever to launch because we wanted an impressive website. There’s never enough time to develop it from scratch, but with themes, you end up wasting even more time hacking the code to fix their quirks. Vibe-coding will get you to the first draft instantly, but it doesn’t solve the problem.
It became frustrating fighting the same problems with every project and the live implementation never reaching the quality bar you aim for, regardless of the time factor. So I figured I might as well do it properly once and for all for everyone.
Its flagship feature is a full-screen hero section with controls for framing an image or video separately for horizontal and vertical screens. That collapses into an ordinary title bar as a fallback.
The solution supports light, dark, system, and even hybrid mode (dark hero, light content), which can be set for each page/post separately. Best of all, it automatically ensures contrast of all elements against any user-defined color.
