I consider myself a fairly creative individual. I come up with clever ways to solve problems at work, for example, and I take some pride in it.
But I can't imagine the level of creativity and cruelty to come up with this idea and follow through with it.
Knowing someone came up with the idea of putting surveillance cameras on garbage trucks to negatively rate houses with the potential impact on punishing the residents/owners of said houses, there's no words.
That someone, most probably an engineer like me or in a similar space, that I could find myself shaking hands with at a conference, could come up with ways to maximize suffering for others, is hard to reconcile.
It reminds me of the story of the man who created the Brazen Bull. The king who commissioned it was so horrified with the device that he ordered the creator to be its first victim.
