    > If all that comes out of this is a few people learning how to build Firefox from source I'd consider it a win.

Firefox is surprisingly easy to build! Only around 6 commands with cloning the source.

    For anything interested: https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/setup/linux_build.ht...

For me the compile process that took no more than 15-20mins. Partial builds are even faster

That bit about openzim was ironic - that text was linked to this page: https://wiki.openzim.org/wiki/OpenZIM - which is protected by Anubis, which doesn't work with many of the simpler browsers that openzim users typically use...

I'm all for blocking hostile scrapers and bots, but surely there's got to be a better solution than the likes of Anubis.

Having spoken to some of the core people working on Firefox, not all of them seem too happy about all of the the AI integrations.

I think this is mainly Mozilla trying to stay at least partially relevant and going on the hype train :/

Removing on device translations makes it harder for users to discover the independent web in languages outside their understanding. What a "user hostile" decision.
