    Hey HN,

Just spent the weekend building something I've been passionate about for the last 7 years. I built Fly or Tesla to figure out when it's actually worth driving instead of dealing with the airport.

FSD is finally getting good enough that all my friends seem to be getting Teslas. Driving all day used to be exhausting. But with FSD, the Tesla does most of the work, which completely changes the math.

The site takes any route and compares flying vs. driving on four things: money, time, stress, and carbon. It's not perfect, so I'd love feedback.

It factors in the hidden stuff—like paying for Ubers to the airport and sitting at the gate for two hours. It compares all that airport friction directly to the total drive time and charging stops.

Personally I hate flying, but I know some people don't mind it.

Flight prices are just estimates, and it assumes 1 or 2 travelers (since putting a whole family in a car is basically always cheaper if you have a family). But I know lots of single people who will drive across country in their Tesla using FSD before getting in a plane.

Let me know what you think. I'd love to know if the cost math and "stress scores" seem accurate for your usual trips.

In Canada, not working for me currently. Cool idea though, I hate to fly.

Good call, I restricted Maps API to the US. Opening up to ROW now.
