Capacity is one aspect of storage. Some others are iops, latency, durability, storage conditions, TCO, media (or in this case reagent?) and reader availability. Company lifetime, vendor diversity.
One possible read is that this is great for cold storage (write a lot, hardly read) - I think that's totally possible... but then you are also sort of betting that the company is going to be around in 10 years? Or else you are going to be hiring a really weird data recovery service.
