currently my wish for energy storage if the could manufacture cells with <1% self-discharge rate. Imagine possibility to charge your battery system in summer and live though winter (sadly I need something of 1MW cells)
What is your approximate latitude and winter solar insolation? I think it's unlikely batteries in the near term meet that seasonal storage you mention, and therefore you might be better suited to overbuild solar and combine with geothermal for heat, with a combination of fossil gas and wood burning for backup heat. Check me on that, my assumptions might be inaccurate.
