    They redid the engine to make more power it ordinarily puts out. Speed records get attention at the end of the day.

    End of day many worried about fossil fuel use could switch to use biofuel or green fuel. Hydrogen though would be great for those stuck near a construction site and sick of fuel fumes.

    Though some companies [1] [2] do have larger 20, 30 t loaders and excavators using battery power, I would have thought at this stage of the game apart from a very small caveat [3] serious research would be moving towards hybrid battery / hydrogen fuel cell ... and eventually that hydrogen coming by way of ammonia - present stationary anhydrous ammonia systems exist, but it'll get more interesting with wet / liquid ammonia (aqua ammonia) systems for power production for machinery.

    [3] Hydraulic systems are said to be designed to work better warmed up so there's less working life advantage for battery based efficient systems that are only drawing power when needed - especially in situations where hydraulic equipment is being used lightly and infrequently. (However I think many would reason that eventually the savings would easily pay for / allow faster replacement, and over the coming years hydraulic systems will be engineered to have longer low temp life cycles.)
