I had all pass/fail classes my entire college career ... with the caveat that I also got narrative evaluations. For a computer science class those might be like six lines (Homework: 85%, First test: 78%, etc.). For more Liberal Arts classes I would usually get several paragraphs, talking about the essays I wrote and how good they were and such.
IT WAS INCREDIBLE: I did not slack off in college, although I did stress a little less because I was't as worried about grades. But, I knew I was getting narrative evals, and wanted to be able to show them to a future employer, so I still did my best in all my courses.
Ultimately ... none of it mattered: my first employer didn't even look at my evals, and every employer after didn't care. So I got great, far more detailed (vs. other colleges) evaluations, with less overall stress ... and if an employer had wanted to see them, I had way more to show than just grades.
Sadly, I was the very last class to have that option, but (as an Education minor) I strongly feel it's the better pedagogical approach.
As if the grades mattered in the first place. Credentials are pass/fail, employers tick a box and it is more rare than not they care about your GPA, or verify it for that matter.
