I'm sure police won't abuse their new toy like every previous thing they are given
The article itself reads like a PR piece against democratic oversight and pro-police. For example:

Detractors? Let's go ahead and call them "criminals who wish to avoid the righteous laws".
> They’re on their way to an emergency with the siren blaring, but a driver fails to clear the path for the police cruiser.
An "emergency", you see.
