I’m glad he feels this way and is standing up for this, even if I didn’t agree with lots of metas practice in the past (they are the same company that wouldn’t let people have access to the original llama model - though to be fair Mark might have sanctioned the leak that ultimately kicked off the modern local AI ecosystem, you can’t say Meta didn’t play a major role).

I find it funny that this is basically a rebuttal to Dario’s thing, only because the Anthropic post was ostensibly saying “we too support open AI models” but absolutely nobody believes it to the point where someone like mark would come out and rebut the popular interpretation, ie that Anthropic wants to prevent access to open weight models.

Coming from Zuckerberg, this reads to me as equal parts sales pitch and threat.

I agree with everything he wrote. I also don't believe this is actually what he believes - this is what you write when you're trying to come from behind.

Is this Zucks first wsj article?

Are Mark's musings hallow or hollow while Meta Muse remains closed?

To be clear, I really like a lot of what Zuck says in this OpEd. He needs to put his money where his mouth is for me to believe he is sincere.
