I forgot to mention the tech stack I've used: for the map, it's D3 mainly for the math projection calculation, and I let React the rendering part. It's a custom geocoder written in TS that translates the raw location into a country code.
No signup or anything like this needed, and the Personal Access Token is optional, you just put any github user name and lunch it.
