Works perfectly fine with firefox snap ubuntu 152.0.4. I can select mic from one web cam and image from another. Is there somewhere a technical description of how they have used API to implement this ? Open sources ?

The real news here is that something works under snap!

Works fine for me. I also took a zoom call from Firefox just yesterday (153.0b13 on mac). So, I think this is false alarm.

I also see no good reason why Zoom would want to restrict this. Likewise, I don't see them dropping support for Safari either (works fine as well).

Maybe they limit things on mobile? But on IOS they'd be stuck having to support the Safari browser engine anyway as neither the Chrome nor Firefox browser engines are used on that platform (both browser delegate to Apple's browser engine there).

It kicked me out on Firefox 152 over Android 13, but only until I enabled desktop mode. Actual desktop Firefox seems to work too. And others say Safari works even on iOS.

So they're effectively just blocking non-Chrome Android. Not sure if that's all they intended to block or simply all they're succeeding at blocking.

If you attempt to join a zoom call from anything but Chrome, you will get a prompt telling that "You need to be on Android 10 and Chrome 91 or higher".

Which Firefox version and OS version are using using? Android 10 or later?

Do you have any Firefox extensions installed?

If you test in Chrome, does the zoom.us/test page connect to a meeting in the browser or does it open the Zoom app?

So similar to the trend that has been going on for a long while.

"You need MS-Windows to access the portal and reach your health dept pages"

"You need Android and a contract with Google to run the "app" and obtain certification from the State"

"You need a bank card in order to obtain the service"

    ...

No, Never. No, Never. No, Never. ...

Good. Keep fighting the good fight, which isn't actually a "fight" but more a defense. When a service says I need MS-Windows, I don't need that service. I also don't opt in to the Apple/Google duopoly.
