So why put up with ads, when I can use deepseek, gemini, etc more often without ads, at least for now? There are somethings I like ChatGPT for but honestly I'll be using it less when this happens.
> OpenAI says ads will not influence ChatGPT’s responses, and that all ads will appear in separate, clearly labeled boxes directly below the chatbot’s answer
Those of you old enough to remember when Google said the exact same thing about clearly labeled ads can make your bets on how long it will take for those ads to be indistinguishable from the content.
Given how quickly OpenAI is running through the entshittification guidebook I'd say 5 years.
> The first ads will appear for logged-in users on ChatGPT’s free tier, as well as its $8-a-month Go tier, which will begin to roll out to users in the United States on Friday. The Go tier—which is already available in India, France, and other countries—lets users send more messages and generate more images than the free version. I think that's overly generous. OpenAI already has a track record of going back on what they say with the whole non-profit/for-profit thing.
