Hey HN, I'm a dev who's been job hunting recently. Got ghosted multiple times, wasted hours on "urgent roles" that went nowhere, and talked to a recruiter who later turned out to be running some kind of scam.

I kept thinking — why is there no way to check if a recruiter is legit before responding to their LinkedIn message?

So I built Wreckruiter (https://www.wreckruiter.com). Look up a recruiter, see if others got ghosted or scammed, leave your own review.

Classic chicken-and-egg problem. But I figured I'd throw it out here and see if this resonates or if I'm solving a problem nobody actually cares enough to act on.

One thing I've been thinking about: good recruiters should actually want this. Transparency helps them stand out from the bad actors ruining their industry. Maybe there's something to build on that side too — verified placements, response rate stats, who knows.

Built it in Elixir/Phoenix if anyone cares about the stack.

Roast away. Is this useful? Would you actually check it before responding to a recruiter? What's missing?
